Maldives meal plans explained

Meal plan choice often moves the total trip cost more than the villa category. Coverage varies significantly between resorts.
What do the meal plan codes mean?
BB is breakfast only. HB adds dinner. FB adds lunch. All-inclusive adds drinks and usually some à la carte dining.
Because resorts are single-island, there is no option to eat elsewhere. That makes the meal plan a near-fixed cost rather than a convenience.
- BB — breakfast only; suits short stays at resorts with strong dining variety
- HB — breakfast and dinner, often buffet only
- FB — three meals, usually with limited venue choice
- AI — meals plus a defined drinks list; premium items usually excluded
When all-inclusive is not the cheaper option
If you drink little alcohol and want to try speciality restaurants, half board plus à la carte is often cheaper.
All-inclusive plans commonly restrict you to the main buffet, with surcharges at speciality venues. Read which venues are included before assuming full coverage.
Check the exclusions
Common exclusions are premium spirits and wines by the bottle, in-villa dining, lobster and similar premium items, and excursions. iLivaro lists the meal plans recorded for each resort on the resort page.
