Which villa type should I book?

Book a water villa for privacy and direct lagoon access on a short stay. Book a beach villa for shade, space and practicality with children or on stays over five nights.

Many travellers split their stay: a few nights overwater, the rest on the beach. Not every resort permits a mid-stay move, so confirm with the resort before planning it.

Reef access is not automatic overwater

An overwater villa does not guarantee snorkelling from the deck. Reef quality depends on the resort's lagoon and house reef, not on the villa type.

Heat, shade and daily comfort

Water villas have little natural shade and get hot in the middle of the day. Beach villas usually sit under palm cover with more usable outdoor space and a shorter walk to restaurants and the spa.

Families and accessibility

Beach villas are generally the safer and simpler choice with young children.

Some resorts restrict overwater villas by minimum child age, or require pool fencing that they cannot provide. Deck steps into deep water are the usual reason.
